3 BSF jawans die in Naxal strike in Chhattisgarh

At least three BSF jawans were killed and four others injured when suspected Naxals blew up the vehicle they were travelling in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Wednesday. A head constable and two constables of the force died while the condition of one among the injured jawans was critical, BSF sources said. The ultras triggered the landmine explosion near Erikbuta village under Pakhanjur police station limits when the mini truck carrying the jawans was passing, Kanker SP Rahul Bhagat told PTI. The incident took place around 1820 hours. The troops belong to the 87th battalion of the BSF which has a camp near the village. They were moving on operational duties, the sources said. Additional forces have been rushed to the spot, Mr. Bhagat said. The BSF has deployed five battalions (5,000 personnel) in Kanker for anti-Naxal operations and security related duties.
