Procedure For Meat Potato Pie:
  • Boil the potatoes in the meat stock to imbibe the flavour. Mash the peeled potatoes and mix it with a tablespoon of butter and milk. Season with salt and pepper and keep aside.
  • Meanwhile knead a dough out of flour, cold grated butter, fresh cream and 2 eggs. Use only cold water to knead and add a pinch of baking soda.
  • Roll out a pastry the same shape and size of the baking dish you are going to use. You can actually use it as a frame. Refrigerate the pastry you have rolled for the next 20 minutes.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a pan and saute the onions in it. Add the minced meat then the onions are nicely browned and then add all the fresh and dry spices to it along with the vegetables.
  • Cook for 2 minutes on low flame. Pour the meat stock into the pan and let it come to boil. Cover and cook for 5 to 7 minutes after adding salt.
  • You can add a tablespoon of fresh cream to enhance the thickness of the gravy. Pour half the gravy into a baking dish greased with butter.
  • Cover it with a layer of mashed potato and pour the rest of the gravy on it. Again coat it with mashed potatoes.
  • Now put the pastry on top and make a few incisions for the steam to escape. Beat the other 2 eggs with milk and brush the pasty top and sides with it.
  • Bake it in a preheated oven at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Give it 20 minutes of standing time.
