54th GRAMMY Nominations Highlights Diverse Talent of Yamaha Artists


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 21, 2011) - Nominations for the 54th Annual GRAMMY® Awards were announced by The Recording Academy®, reflecting a year in which Yamaha artists were recognized for their supreme musical skills across an eclectic range of genres.
Yamaha drummer Will Champion, member of the alternative rock band band Coldplay, earned three nominations for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song. Christian artist Chris Tomlin earned three nods for Best Gospel/Contemporary Christian Music Performance, Best Contemporary Christian Music Song, and Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
The legendary Paul McCartney was nominated for Best Historical Album for Band on the Run. Yamaha drummer Terri Lyne Carrington was nominated for Best Jazz Vocal Album for The Mosaic Project, while guitarist and composer Pat Metheny was nominated for Best New Age Album.
Big band leader and Yamaha pianist Gordon Goodwin was recognized for Best Instrumental Composition and Best Instrumental Arrangement. The recognition of Yamaha artists spanned the musical categories, from Best Pop Instrumental (where three artists were nominated: Daniel Ho, Dave Koz and Brian Setzer), to Best Surround Sound Album (Dave Grusin).

This year's GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 12, 2012, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8 - 11: 30 p.m. (ET/PT).
