ALLAHABAD: Though there is a ban on firing during wedding processions, it is hardly observed in practice, until the cops arrive on the scene. However, the recent killing of four persons at a wedding venue in Sahibabad (Ghaziabad) has forced the police to step up the vigil, given that the wedding season is here.
The police have issued a set of directives seeking cooperation from owners of marriage halls to check the menace. Police teams have been deployed to check misuse of even licensed weapons, if any. The arms licence of such offenders would be cancelled.

"Police have also come to know that people are using illegal firearms for firing during wedding processions. Strict action would be taken against such offenders," SP (City), Subhash Singh Baghel said.
