This month's MTV Push Artist is MC Mac Miller
who initially blew us away when he dropped his club banger K.I.D.S.
mixtape in 2010. This music maestro taught himself how to play the
piano, drums, guitar, and bass by the age of 6 and by 2011 he sold over a
million singles total with little to no radio airplay. Who is this
indie with almost 1.7 million FB Likes??
Mastering several instruments and musical genres, Mac made a name for himself delivering jaw-dropping freestyles in Pittsburgh. His musical influences include the styles of artists such as Big L, Lauryn Hill, Outkast, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Nineteen-year-old Miller, who, as an independent artist, earned the number 1 Billboard Hot200 album for Blue Slide Park dropping over 145,000 copies in the first week without any commericial promotion. He stands strong as MTV News'(US) nominees for 2011's Hottest Breakthrough MCs. No doubt, 2012 will be his year globally. His debut singles and videos for the album include "Frick Park Market," "Party On Fifth Avenue," and "Donald Trump"
