The
Forum, scheduled for February 8-9, 2011 will be attended by
conferencing and student housing professionals from across the UK and
Ireland.  Norma’s keynote address
will discuss strategies for overcoming the challenges of communication
with customers and internal departments.
Norma
explained, “in today's electronic, email age we are so driven by our
‘gadgets’ that we forget the real value of taking a moment to connect
face to face with clients and failing to do so could undermine our
client base by forgetting who they are.”
Norma believes communication plays an integral
part of what conference professionals do in both their work and
personal lives, and if done effectively, it can be the end result of
increased business.
“Impersonal communication can result in too many mixed messages that could and do come through emails.  We rely on non verbal cues we receive from people to help guide us to our "next step" in the communication process,” she added.
Norma
will share her experiences and recommendations that have helped her
department become a successful conference operation that works
effectively with customers and contacts from both on and off campus.
