Hollywood star Tom Cruise came, saw and charmed Indian moviegoers with a special screening of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. And now, the star is readying for another rendezvous – this time, a personal one – with India.
His MI:4 co-star, actor Anil Kapoor, admits that he invited Tom back for a vacation, a request repeated by industrialist Mukesh Ambani, who suggested that Anil bring him down “for a holiday.”
Confirms Anil, “Tom has also said that now, he will visit the country with his family. But it will be a private trip where he can spend some quality time. He is very keen to have a quiet holiday in India.”
Anil says his Hollywood co-star hasn’t been able to take time off for almost five years now. “He told me that he’s been shooting films back-to- back,” says Anil, who admits he isn’t aware of the exact dates of Tom’s visit.
Tell him that the rumours hint at a return next year and he says: “Let’s see. Whenever he is free, he will take a call. But he promised he’s definitely coming back.”
Tom Katie SuriAsk why wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri didn’t come along for the ride to India this time around, and Anil says, “It becomes difficult for women and kids to manage with such a hectic schedule. That’s the reason why, I think, they didn’t come,” he says.
For the time being, Anil is happy with the feedback that MI:4 is getting. “My son Harsh had told me, ‘dad, if you don’t do the film, all your agents will shun you,’” he says.
He adds, “US media are saying that I’ve planned my career (following Slumdog Millionaire, 2008, and TV show 24) well. But I say, what planning? Everything has fallen into my lap.”
