Muta Health And Safety Certification Recognised By London 2012

StructureSafe on-site safety training course for marquee and temporary fabric structures crews has gained recognition by the Olympic organisers, MUTA announces today.
StructureSafe is now one of several approved certification schemes that the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Ltd (LOCOG), the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), and their partners will accept as part of their assurance that contractors working on-site have undertaken verifiable industry-specific health and safety awareness training.
The one-day course, available to anyone who works on temporary demountable fabric structures, certifies successful candidates with the understanding they need to work safely on-site. The StructureSafe certificate complements the MUTAmarq-accreditation scheme, which certifies hire companies as competent contractors.
Alec Ferguson, Health and Safety Manager, LOCOG, said:
“With lots of contractors on one site, making sure that everyone has relevant competence can be difficult. We are pleased that industry bodies such as MUTA have developed sector-specific safety training which makes our job easier.”
Tony Marsh, MUTA President, stated:
“Safe working practices are essential if the event industry is to play its part in making the 2012 Games a success. The Olympics’ recognition of StructureSafe is testament to the commitment of MUTA to professional standards in the fabric structures industry and the safety of its members’ employees and the public.”
The latest version of “Working with LOCOG: Health and Safety Guidance” was published on 1st February.
