Tata Power's unit-2 of Maithon plant on stream

With the successful synchronisation of the second unit of 525 MW of its Maithon Mega Power Project in Dhanbad, Jharkhand under the requisite standard requirements, Tata Power's gross generation capacity has now touched 5,297 MW, making it the largest private sector power generating company in India. The first unit of 525 MW was commissioned in September 2011. Tata Power is also one of the largest renewable players in the country with significant capacity in wind and solar power. It total 5,297 MW capacity consists of 4,447 MW thermal energy and 850 MW non-GHS (greenhouse gas) capacity. Maithon Power is a 74:26 joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). It is implementing a 2x525 MW coal-fired power project in Jharkhand.
