Why Norah Jones is super excited about the Oscars

The 85th Academy Awards are just round the corner and Grammy award-winning singer Norah Jones is really looking forward to it. That she will be performing the Oscar nominated song Everybody Needs A Friend from the movie Ted is known.

But what's getting the songstress excited about her performance is that her dear friend Seth MacFarlane, director of Ted and who also co-wrote the track, will be hosting the Oscars in LA.

"I think it'll be really fun. It's a really cool, unique experience for me to get to perform the song at the Oscars because Seth is hosting and he's my friend. To get to be a part of his film is super fun, but for him to be hosting and for me to still get to go and perform with my buddy hosting, that's super fun! I'm excited," Norah said.

Another celebrity who didn't miss out on the opportunity to be associated with the Oscars is Freida Pinto. She played host to Hollywood's glitterati as a run-up to the Oscars. She hosted one of the pre-Oscar parties as part of the 14th installment of 'Campaign Hollywood', a weeklong celebration leading up to the Academy Awards. The event was an endeavour to highlight the issue of the girl child and the importance of their education.

Freida, along with a leading magazine, will direct the funds raised to the 10 x 10, a campaign that furthers the education of girls around the world through film and social media advocacy. Called DJ Night with Freida Pinto, the evening, that kickstarted on February 19 evening (February 20 India time), featured a special performance by DJ AcE.

Freida's spokesperson stated before the event, "When Freida was approached to co-host the pre-Oscar party, she was more than happy to align with them. She has always felt committed to this cause (supporting the girl child) and wouldn't miss out on this opportunity.
