YOTEL installs KABA’s Contactless RFID Locks with ATLAS Access Control System at its First North American Property
KABA, the provider of Saflok™ and ILCO™ electronic locks and access control systems,
recently completed its fourth YOTEL installation, the YOTEL New York,
which follows successes at YOTEL Gatwick, Heathrow and Schiphol airports
in Europe. KABA installed its contactless ILCO 790 RFID electronic door
locks for all 669 guest rooms supported by the ATLAS front desk access
control management system. Situated in Times Square West at 570 Tenth
Avenue (West 42nd Street), YOTEL New York is the first non-airport
location and the first YOTEL outside of Europe. YOTEL New York is the
largest new hotel to open in the city for the past 10 years. Please click here for more information on KABA electronic locks.
Nigel Buchanan, YOTEL’s operations director said, “KABA was specified for this project because the ILCO 790 RFID system is simple and efficient to both install and manage.” Buchanan also chose KABA’s ATLAS system to manage the hotel door locks. ATLAS is fully integrated with the hotel’s property management software to provide greater property security and guest door control across the entire hotel.
YOTEL concept inspired by first-class airline cabins, Japanese capsule hotels
YOTEL is a revolutionary hotel concept that defines innovation in the global hotel industry. Inspired by first-class airline cabins, YOTEL Gatwick, Heathrow and Schiphol hotels became an ideal choice for travelers looking to get a good night’s sleep before an early flight, or to refresh and relax during a long transit or delay. The safety of YOTEL’s guests and their belongings are of paramount importance, which is why each of the cabins has the ILCO RFID locking systems.
KABA’s ATLAS system provides a web-based interface that enables simplified guest door programming. Menu-driven software provides on-screen help so operators can resolve issues quickly. It offers the flexibility for operators to work in the language of their choice. In the YOTEL’s lobby, self-service ‘Shere’ kiosks dispense guest room keycards and invoices for check-in or check-out, with property staff on hand to provide 24/7 assistance.
Come check out the latest KABA solutions at the IHMRS show in New York this November 12-15; Booth #2902.
Airport style check-in and -out for guests, automated and assisted
“The KABA installations at YOTEL Gatwick, Heathrow and Schipol are very successful,” Buchanan explained. “The RFID door locking system is easy for our guests to use; which is the main priority for all aspects of the YOTEL offering, so it was an obvious choice to extend our relationship with KABA at YOTEL New York.”
About YOTEL
YOTEL was created by YO! Founder Simon Woodroffe and YOTEL CEO Gerard Greene.
The idea was conceived by Simon after he was upgraded to first class on a flight. He decided to translate the language of luxury airline travel and Japanese capsule hotels into a small but luxurious cabin. YOTEL launched as a revolutionary hotel concept in the summer of 2007, with its first location inside London’s Gatwick South terminal. In December 2007, the brand opened its second airport location inside London’s Heathrow Airport Terminal 4, followed by its third location in the airside transit area at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam in September of 2008. www.yotel.com
