'Dirty Picture' banned in Qatar

This year's most talked bollywood movie, "The Dirty Picture" is banned in Qatar. When this movie is already released in other Muslim countries, we are wondering why it is banned by Qatar.

CEO of the production house, Balaji Motion Picture Mr. Tanju Garg says, "Our distributors had applied for cencorship certificate in Qatar, distributors got the notice that this movie can not be released in Qatar. At present this movie is already running in other Arab Muslim contries like, Dubai, Abu Dhabi & other middle east contries but this will not reach to Qatar. The movie was schedule to release in Qatar during this week or next week but we received the instruction that this movie is not worth releasing in theators.

Even there was problem in Pakistan for the release but when producers of the movie appealed against the order of Pakistani Cencor Board, the hurdle was removed. Mr. Garg says, "Initially even Pakistan rejected the release of the movie but later on it was released. Qatar is the only country when ban is impossed

on the movie.' When asked any specific reason is given for ban by Qatar? Mr. Garg said, "We have received notice in Arabi. We do not know Arabic. We think that they must be thinking that movie is too bold or they might not have liked the subject of the movie."

This movie is directed by Milan Lutharia based on the story of south Indian actress Silk Smitha, which released on 2nd December, 2011. Mr. Garg says, it will not make much of difference because banned by Qatar. Qatar is not a big market for hindi movies so question doesn't arise of making from there. We are upset that we could not release movie in Qatar. Ms. Ekta Kapoor was not availbale for comment since she is out of country.

Director Milan Lutharia says, 'Sex is part of our life. This we can denie on screen, but we can kick it out from our mind? If we cannot kick it out from our mind, than why should not accept it and enjoy it?
