Cebu signs agreement on pilot training centre

Cebu Air has announced plans to develop a US$50 million plot training facility in Clark Philippines. Company President and Chief Executive Officer, Lance Gokongwei, signed an agreement on Wednesday with the Clark Development Corp.

With rapid growth in the Asian air travel market forecast over the next few years, Cebu expects to see a strong demand for qualified pilots across the region. Gokongwei cited estimates that the volume of aircraft in Asia would increase by another 6,000 in the next two decades. “With each aircraft needing six pilots and another six co-pilots, that would translate to about 72,000 that need to be trained,” he said.

According to ABS-CBN, the academy will be built with the support of Canadian firm, CAE Inc., a global provider of simulation technologies, modelling technologies and integrated training services.
