The UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and Mubadala Aerospace signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Dubai Airshow, which underlines the tight bonds between GCAA and Mubadala to serve the advancement of the aerospace industry in UAE. for the aerospace industry in the UAE.
The MoU will lead to the establishment of a joint Steering Committee and Working Group that will - amongst other things - look at how the GCAA and Mubadala Aerospace will work together to create cost-effective solutions towards the development and competitiveness of aerospace companies operating in the UAE.
Under the terms of the MoU, the GCAA is committed to working with Mubadala Aerospace to ensure that all of its group companies meet the required regulations and attain the necessary certifications to guarantee the highest standards of international safety and airworthiness.
The Steering Committee, which will meet regularly, will also develop an annual report looking at the achievements and areas where the regional aviation and aerospace industries can improve and work more collaboratively.
As well as providing focus for the implementation of the MoU, the Steering Committee and Working Group will execute tactical areas of collaboration identified by the GCAA and Mubadala Aerospace.
The signing of this MoU demonstrates the GCAA's support for the emerging aerospace industry in the UAE as Mubadala Aerospace seeks to establish a world class, sustainable aviation and aerospace industry in Abu Dhabi, anchored by the future aerospace cluster that will be located in Al Ain.
Together, the GCAA and Mubadala Aerospace hope that the signing of this MoU - which aims to draw the two parties closer together and share expertise enabling the GCAA to apply highest standards of regulation and solutions for the aerospace sector.- will help build a strong foundation for future bilateral agreements with anchor international regulators such as the International Civil Aviation Organization, European Aviation Safety Agency, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA, said, "This MoU not only demonstrates Mubadala Aerospace's commitment to the very highest standards of safety and airworthiness certification, it also highlights the GCAA's commitment to the UAE as the central aerospace hub of the Middle East."
Homaid Al Shemmari, Executive Director of Mubadala Aerospace, said, "The signing of this MoU illustrates Mubadala Aerospace's commitment to the highest standards of safety and regulation in the aerospace industry. The GCAA is an important stakeholder to Mubadala and the UAE aerospace industry; this agreement and their ongoing support reinforces the GCAA's role as the pre-eminent regulatory authority in the region and demonstrates our desire to develop the UAE - and Abu Dhabi specifically - as the anchor of a sustainable aerospace industry in the Middle East."
