Emirates Environmental Group participates in WETEX 2012

The Emirates Environmental Group, a professional working group devoted to protecting the environment, will actively participate as an exhibitor at the 14th WETEX (Water, Energy, and Environment Exhibition 2012) to be held on 13-15 March at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Finance Minister, this year's edition is expected to welcome the biggest number of participants, categories and activities and events related to energy, water, environment, renewable sources of energy, conservation and other environmental issues and concerns.

"WETEX is an important regional and international platform to share best practices and to position the UAE as a global leader in the pursuit for technological advancements in the water, energy and environment sectors," EEG Chairperson Habiba Al Marashi said.

"This is also the best venue to exchange ideas on how to implement sustainable energy solutions to meet the ever-increasing regional and global demand for energy and to promote economic development, conserve our natural resources, and protect the environment," she added.

Aside from a wide array of publications and educational paraphernalia on proper waste management, water & energy conservation, recycling, and environmental protection, the EEG's booth will specifically showcase its 'Every Drop Matters' campaign.

This project, implemented in the UAE by the EEG, is supported by the (United Nations Development Programme) UNDP Water Governance Programme and the Eurasia and Africa Group of the Coca-Cola Company. The initiative is aimed at promoting responsible water resource management for strengthened resilience to climate change and reduced emission of greenhouse gases.

Mrs. Al Marashi said the EEG, which has been participating in WETEX since its inception, would like to highlight the issue of increased understanding of water conservation methods in the UAE amongst policy makers, public sector organizations, corporate and private organisations, mass media, students, professionals and the general public.

"Our country's population is progressively increasing and with this comes the high demand for water. Water conservation is the most cost-effective and environmentally sound way to reduce our demand for water. We want to protect and conserve our water resources so that it will be sustained for future generations to come," she added.
