The Lalit Suri Football Cup - Goa

To stimulate the youth and enhance their game of football - The Lalit Suri Football Cup was organised by the Group in association with The Lions Club of Canacona. This 7-a side inter-club tournament had elicited a huge response from the local football clubs and 14 teams had registered.  December 28th saw the first & second round matches while on December 29th after the semi final matches, the audience witnessed a striking final between Cocktails & Dreams Sporting Club and Agonda Boys.

This 7-a side inter-club tournament had elicited a huge response from the local football clubs and 14 teams had registered.  December 28th saw the first & second round matches while on December 29th after the semi final matches, the audience witnessed a striking final between Cocktails & Dreams Sporting Club and Agonda Boys. The winner of the specially designed ‘The Lalit Suri Football Cup’ and Rs 7777/- as prize money was Cocktails & Dreams Sporting Club beating traditional rivals Agonda Boys by 1-0. The runner up took home a trophy, Rs 4444/- and individual player gifts. Besides, each participating team got a cash prize and all players were given a participating medallion and gifts. Prizes were also distributed for the Best Player, Best Goal keeper, The Fair Play team etc.

The biggest encouragement for these inter-club tournament participants, was that the 15 best players got a chance to be selected to play in THE LALIT Team for The Lalit Suri Exhibition Football Match vs. the famous Churchill Brothers Team. The Churchill Brothers Team won the match by 2-0. Mr. Joaquim Alemao, Minister for Urban Development of Goa was the Chief Guest for the same.
